COPPA Notice
Direct Notice to Parents
Kurious is designed for children ages 6–12 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This page is the direct notice we provide to parents before collecting any personal information from a child.
What we collect from your child
- Display name and age range you provide when creating the profile.
- Conversations with Kurious (text and voice while the mic is active).
- Projects your child creates, and progress through learning concepts.
- Session times and on-screen interactions used to adapt the curriculum.
How we use it
Only to operate the product: respond to your child, adapt difficulty, save their projects, and show you accurate progress. We do not sell or share this information for advertising.
Verifiable parental consent
Before your child can use Kurious you must (a) create an account with your email, (b) confirm you are the parent or legal guardian, and (c) check the COPPA consent box. We record the consent timestamp and the notice version you accepted.
Your rights
- Review: see all data we have on your child from the parent dashboard.
- Export: download a copy as JSON.
- Delete: remove an individual child or your entire account.
- Refuse further collection: closing the account stops new collection immediately.
Retention
Voice clips are automatically deleted within 7 days. Other data is retained while the account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account closure.
